My research is on optimization and control of operation of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) in the distribution grid. More specifically, I am working on the following topics:

Economic Operation of Inverter-Based Renewable Energy Generation in Distribution Grid

In this project, we want to minimize the operation cost of renwables in the distribution grid using local resources such as battery storage, controllable loads and inverter power output. The goal is to find the optimal power flow from each node so that overall cost is minimized. This goal can be achieved using a central optimization or creating a market structure in which parties minimize their cost of operation.

Multi-agent control of distributed battery inverters

The goal of this project is to find the optimal contribution of battery inverters to regulate the frequency of power grid with high renewable energy penetration. Optimal contribution of battery for high, medium and low frequency perturbations is determined.
