Steps of Installation of Oracle 11g Client 1. Download a ZIP From Oracle Website or from http://www.cs.csub.edu/~hwang/CS342 - File name: win32_11gR2_client.zip or win64_11gR2_client.zip depending your MS Windows version For non-Windows platform, go to Oracle website. - From my website shown above: download one of two file. - From Oracle website: (1) Do a search on Oracle 11g client (2) Find the Oracle website for downloads. (3) Register your name, choose file based on your operating system. 2. Run the zip command in "install" folder. 3. Run "setup.exe" to install. During installation, make sure you choose "Administrator" option. 4. Create a Service Name, named delphidb (1) Run Oracle_oraClint11g_home1 --> Configuration and Migration Tools --> Net Manager (2) Expand Local and Click Service Naming (3) Click "+" (4) Fill Net Service Name with "delphidb", click Next (5) select TCP/IP, then click Next (6) Fill Host Name with "delphi.cs.csubak.edu", then click Next (7) Fill Service Name with "dbs01.cs.csubak", click Next *Notice that there is no ".edu" after "csubak." here! (8) Click Test. If the test is not successful, the click Change Login with cs342 as user name, and xxxxxxx (given in class). (9) Save the result no matter you tested successfully or not. (10) If the test is not successful and saved the result, - start step (1), - replace step (3) with "Click the Service Name 'delphidb'", - Check parameters and test it. Make sure that the "Connect Type" is "Dedicated Server".
